It is recommended to change the default login password of your Netgear router to make it more secure. Because leaving the default password can allow others to easily enter to the web interface of your router. Here’s how to change the default password of your Netgear router.

  1. Open a web browser on your device and type routerlogin.com or routerlogin.net in the address bar.
  2. Enter the default username & password of your Netgear router (admin, password). If you have previously changed the password then enter that one.
  3. Confirm login details and click on Enter.
  4. If login details approved, you will be taken to the web interface of your Netgear router.

  1. Connect your PC or phone to your Router network and then open a web browser.
  2. Type www.routerlogin.net or www.routerlogin.com in the address bar and click Enter.

  4. Once you are on the login interface, click on the Cancel button. This will display the password recovery tool.

Or if you have messed up the router settings and want to get back to the default settings then factory reset can do that. Whatever the case, here’s how you can reset Netgear router properly.

  1. Make sure that your router’s power light is on.
  2. On the back of your router, locate the Restore Factory Settings or Reset button.
  3. Use a paper clip or similar object to press and hold the Restore Factory Settings or Reset button for seven seconds.
  4. Release the Restore Factory Settings or Reset button. Your router resets.

The above process will erase all your personalized settings, SSID, WiFi password, and other settings. Also, now you can use the default username and password to login to the web interface.

  1. Simultaneously press and hold the Wireless On/Off and WPS buttons for about six seconds until the Power LED blinks red.
  2. Release the Wireless On/Off and WPS buttons and wait for the router to reboot.
  3. The factory default settings are restored.

The above steps will help you reset the DGN2000 or DG834Gv5 router. These two routers have different designs and functionality, that is why the factory reset process is different from the majority of the Netgear routers.
